Sure, for pure roleplay value, this isnt an issue, but when Probably the strongest endgame archer build in BG3 would be at least 2 levels in fighter to unlock Action Surge, at least 3 levels of ranger to unlock the Gloom Stalker subclass and it's first tier of benefits, and at least 3 levels of rogue to unlock Assassin to really capitalize on the Gloom Stalker's first round (which would be the ideal You need the crossbow expert feat in addition to the previously mentioned sharpshooter feat which we take in bg3, as crossbow expert is the only way to actually get the bonus action crossbow attacks in 5e. I’d go Fighter 5 first, arguably for extra attack and the improved critical (and it being the main part of our build) Then 2 in Rogue for cunning action Then Gloomstalker 3 for all the gloomstalker perks. So for a thief build especially, dual crossbows are optimal. 3. High elves get +cantrip -Mask of the Wild (with base racial speed), and +1 INT instead of WIS. Fighters and all their extra attacks, action surge, and extra ASIs/feats actually make some of the best archers. Fighter can take Ranged Menacing attack, which is very useful and can trivialize Bosses. For gameplay useage i would say Mage Breaker and Sanctifed Stalker are on par with each other. mid-game-gloomstalker=beastmaster>hunter. Assuming no respecs for simplicity, I'd go 5 Gloom Stalker Ranger --> 4 Assassin Rogue --> 3 Fighter. 2 spells: Hunters Mark and speak with animals (so much fun in this game). They're terrible with a bunch of targets, but great for single targets. You either want to go 5 Ranger/4 Rogue/3 Ranger (This will give you all 3 ASI) OR 5 Ranger/7 Rogue (This will only give 2 ASI, but will progress Sneak Attack by 2d6 more). Tricky part is knowing when to pull warlock: I’m after devil sight, mortal reminder, the warlock saves, and either EB with repel or one with shadows.
